Dreadshampoos; shampoo bar or liquid shampoo?

Dreadshampoos; shampoo bar or liquid shampoo?

There is a lot of choice in shampoos for Real Dreads. There are shampoo bars, but also liquid shampoos. Which one you choose for your dreads is a matter of preference in use. Because we want to help you make a choice, we will list some pros per product for you.

Shampoo bar

A shampoo bar for Real Dreads works basically the same as a soap bar. After you wet the shampoo bar, you can take the shampoo bar or the foam and rub it on your dreads. With a shampoo bar and a mesh bag you can very easily rub in the sections on your scalp to apply the shampoo thoroughly on your scalp. A bar is perfect for young dreads. There is some extra salt in it, this helps your dreads to lock up extra fast and good. Besides that, a shampoo bar is extra economical, the bar will last for a long time!

Liquid shampoo

A liquid shampoo for Real Dreads can be used the same way as ‘normal’ shampoo. Apply some shampoo on your hand, make the shampoo foam and massage into your dreads and on your scalp. Make sure to rinse out the shampoo very thoroughly!

With a liquid shampoo you have the choice between the ‘Hydrating Dreadlock Shampoo’ and the ‘Herbal Cleanser Dreadlock Shampoo’ within the brand Raw Roots. Hydrating cares for a more dry, sensitive and maybe even flaky scalp. The herbal cleanser is ideal if you have a more greasy scalp. Dollylocks liquid shampoos care for all hair-and-scalp-types. They have a lot of choice in wonderful scents!

As you can read, there is plenty of choice. Good luck picking one!

By the way, I personally use both types of shampoo! You can read more about it in this Blog.
