Caring for Human Hair extensions

Caring for Human Hair extensions

Super cool that you want to choose or have chosen Real Dreads with Human Hair extensions!
It is important that you give the Human Hair the right care. With proper care, the Human Hair will keep its quality. In this blog I would like to give you more information about the proper care of Human Hair.

Human Hair can be ordered online at our webshop!

We have recently included Human Hair of super good quality in our range. We also use this Human Hair in our Salon to lengthen dreads of our own hair. Using the Human Hair you can match the thickness of the Dreads and the color of the hair.

How long does Human Hair last as dreadlock extensions?

Human hair is available in many different shades, to get the hair in all these colors it is dyed, from dark to light. The Human Hair is also treated to ensure that it is hygienic.

Human Hair lasts for years, however, the lighter the hair is in color, the more it has already been processed, the drier it will become over time. The light blond Human Hair will therefore become drier faster than, for example, very dark Human Hair, because this has been processed/dyed more often.

Can You Dye Human Hair?

You can dye human hair with normal hair dye.
Would you like a lighter color Human Hair? Then order a lighter shade of Human Hair. Because Human Hair has already been processed and treated, we strongly advise against dyeing Human Hair lighter.
If you choose to dye the Human Hair, the Human Hair will only become drier, and this will be at the expense of quality. If you dye it often, the Human Hair extensions can eventually break.

Are you going to dye the Human Hair anyway? Then make sure that the paint is rinsed out very well, if any paint remains in the dreads, this will continue to work and that is not good for your hair/dreads. We recommend that you do not dye Human Hair yourself, but go to a hairdresser for this.

Also keep in mind that the hair dye on the Human Hair can turn out differently in terms of color than on your own hair.

For Human Hair Dreadlock extensions you need a special shampoo

When you have Real Dreads with Human Hair extensions, it is important to use the right shampoo when washing the extensions.
There are special Dreadlock shampoos that you can use for your dreads. Unlike regular shampoos, these do not contain any emollients (conditioners, silicones) so you can give your dreads the right care.
For dry hair/dreads you can use the RAW ROOTs Hydrating Dreadlock Shampoo or the Dollylocks Dreadlock Shampoo. These shampoos are particularly suitable for normal to dry hair/dreads.

My Dreads feel dry, now what?

If you notice that your Human Hair extensions are very dry, you can take extra care of them with the Rescue Tonic or Refreshening Spray for extra hydration. You can use this on your dreads every day.

You can also use a nourishing oil, the Raw Roots Dreadlock Hydrating Oil or Dollylocks Conditioning Oil are very suitable for this. Apply a few drops of the oil to your hands and spread it over your dreads. Use on damp hair for best results.
