How many dreads do I use with a sidecut, mohawk, undercut or three quarters shaved?

You can read our description on how many dreads you need for a full head of hair in an earlier blog, wrote by us. But what if you have a sidecut (one side is bald), a mohawk(two sides are bald) or have three quarters shaved hair and like to apply dreads? Next to that, there are the usual factors to consider. Which kind of dreads for example, or how thick your own hair is.

How many dreads do I use with a sidecut? sidecut

In this blog we give guidelines for the amount of dreads needed when you have a sidecut. This means that one side of your head is bald or has very short hair. Because of this, you will need less dreads than usual. The amount of dreads you need depends on how thick your own hair is but also how big the bald spot is. Because of this, the amounts can differ between people.

For a Sidecut (one side is bald) with normal hair

Combine 5 packs of dreadlocks

For a Sidecut (one side is bald) with thin hair

Combine 4 packs of dreadlocks

For a Sidecut (one side is bald) with thick hair

Combine 6 packs of dreadlocks

How many dreads do I use with a mohawk?

But what is the guideline when you have a (wide) mohawk and want to apply dreads?
Both sides of the head have been shaved. The piece of hair where you can apply dreads is from the front of your head down to your neck (at your hairline). Because part of your hair is too short to braid the dreads in, you need less dreads. The amount of dreads depends on how thick your hair is, but as well on how big the parts are that have been shaved. The amount of dreads can differ between people.

For a (wide) mohawk(two sides are bald) with normal hair

Combine 4 packs of dreadlocks

For a (wide) mohawk(two sides are bald) with thin hair

Cobime 3 packs of dreadlocks

For a (wide) mohawk (two sides are bald) with thick hair

Combine 5 packs of dreadlocks

How many dreads do I use when my head has been shaved three quarters

This is a guideline for when your head has been shaved for three quarters. This means that bewise both sides of your head, part of the back has been shaved as well. The only piece of hair you can braid your dreads into is on the top (middle) of your head.

The amount of dreads depends on how thick your hair is, but of course as well on how big the part of hair is that has been shaved. The amount of dreads can differ between people because of that.

For hair that has been shaved for three quarters, with normal hair:

Combine 3 packs of dreadlocks

For hair that has been shaved for three quarters, with thin hair:

Combine 2 packs of dreadlocks

For hair that has been shaved for three quarters, with thick hair:
