How often can I wash my Synthetic Dreads?
When your Synthetic dreads have been installed, it’s nice to wash your hair during the time you wear the Synthetic Dreads. But how often can you do this? In this blog you can read the answer to this question.
How often can I wash my Dreads?
We recommend to wash your Synthetic Dreads maximum once a week. Because you wet the Dreads, they will get heavier and because of that they can start to sag out. The braids of your own hair can get frizzy faster when you wash them. To keep your Dreads beautiful as long as possible, it’s best to wash your dreads as little as possible!
Wash dreads not often = musty smell?
No, not necessarily. When you use a nice in between the washing, your Dreads will smell fresh. We have several different Conditioning Sprays in our assortment to choose from. It’s best to use the Conditioning Spray every 2 to 3 days.
Just rinse scalp, so Dreads will stay dry
It is also possible to only rinse your scalp with water. The best way to do this is to twist your Dreads in a bun on top of your head. Keep some space between the bun and your scalp, so the water can flow through. Hold the showerhead with your free hand and let the water run over your scalp only (you can also do this by tilting your head to the front and hold it above the sink/shower base/bathtub). It depends on what you prefer.
You can also wash your hair this way, but be careful that your don’t get shampoo in your eyes!
Wearing Dreads and working out
Are you athletic and because of that sweaty a couple of times a week after a workout, it’s also good to keep your scalp and Dreads fresh of course. After the workout you can use a to freshen up your scalp and your Dreads. But rinsing your scalp with water, as described above, that can also be really nice after a workout.
What is better for my Dreads: Spray Shampoo or regular shampoo?
There are different shampoos that your can use when you wear Dreads. Using a is very good when you wear Synthetic Dreads. It’s very easy in use and nice and fresh. The shampoo is easy to rinse out and because your don’t have to massage the shampoo onto your scalp, and therefore reduce the chance of your hair getting frizzy at the braid.
You can also use your own shampoo, but make sure you dilute the shampoo with water in a plant spray bottle. You don’t have to massage in the shampoo as much when you do this and you reduce the change of shampoo residue that can cause itch.
Enjoy your freshly washed Dreadies!
