Can I cut off my Synthetic Dreads?
You ordered the wrong length of Dreads or the Dreads are slightly longer than you wanted. Can I cut off my dreads to make them shorter? That is a question we get often. In this Blog we answer this question.
Length of the Dreads
In Dreadshop’s assortment you can find different lengths of our various types of Dreads. The fact that you can’t cut our dreads to make them shorter, is one of the reasons why we offer different lengths.
All of our Dreads are made by hand. The Dreads are made with a special twisting technique and the tip of the Dreadlock is finished so that the hair won’t get loose. Because of that it’s not possible to cut off our Dreads to make them shorter.
What will happen to the Dreads?
When you cut off a Dreadlock the Dreads can start to ‘unravel’. The hair will start to unravel and in the end the entire Dread can unravel until you only have loose hair. By cutting it you take off the ‘pressure’ of the twist in the Dread, which causes the dread to twist back and unravel.
Can I modify the tips of the Dreads myself?
When you dó decide to cut off the Dreads you have ordered at Dreadshop anyway, you can seal the tips with a hair straightener, boiling water or an iron. All the information about this you can read in our Blog: ' '. Keep in mind that the tip will be thicker than the original tip. Because you seal the new tip on a thicker part of the Dread.
Please note: any form of warranty lapses for Dreads that you have cut off.
